“Look at this!” she said, and so I did.
“Shall we do it?” she asked, and we had a think.
“Let’s have a spa day!” she cried – so we did.

Getting There from the UK
Instagram and TikTok scrollers will likely have caught glimpses of Pachanga, the stylish ‘Pool Club’ at Jacy’z Hotel in Gothenburg. It was this gem of a place that inspired our very first Extreme Day Trip (EDT) – and it was epic. The reel from my glamorous travelling companion gives a flavour of how special this day was.
At first glance, flying to Sweden and back in a day for a spa session might sound a little bonkers. But hear me out – here’s how it works:
- Flight time: Approximately 1h 50m from the UK – perfect for podcasts, Kindle time, or just zoning out.
- Airports: Direct flights run from London Heathrow (British Airways), Stansted (Ryanair), and Manchester. London Gatwick also offers options suitable for overnight stays.
- Transfers: Jacy’z is around 20 minutes from Gothenburg airport. We recommend using Bolt or Uber for a smooth, budget-friendly ride.
Pachanga Pool Club: Spa Details & Review
Pachanga spans the 27th and 28th floors of the hotel and offers a unique spa experience with panoramic views. Here’s what you can expect:
- Two pools: A warmer pool on the 27th floor and a slightly cooler one on the 28th.
- Wellness features: Sauna, steam room, quiet relaxation room (27th), and daybeds and a bar (28th).
- Fireplaces: Cosy wood-burning fires dotted throughout, giving it a warm, hygge-like vibe.
Drinks & Dining at the Pool
The drinks menu ranges from fresh smoothies to champagne pitchers and creative cocktails. There’s full daybed service too – no need to get up for a refill!
The food menu features delicious snacks and mid-sized plates. We had the padron peppers (still dreaming about them) and the dip that beat Wahaca’s guac – sorry, Wahaca.
There are four spa sessions per day, perfect whether you’re day-tripping or staying over:
- Morning: 08.45 – 11.00
- Lunch slot: 11.45 – 15.00 (includes lunch!)
- Afternoon: 15.30 – 18.30
- Evening: 19.00 – 22.30
We chose the Pool Club & Spa Entry with lunch, which gave us 3 hours’ access to both floors, plus lunch. At the time of booking, this was just £26pp and included towels, a fluffy robe, and slippers.
More Than a Spa: Dining & Bars at Jacy’z
Jacy’z is much more than just a hotel with a spa. If you’re extending your stay, be sure to explore the in-house bars and restaurants – each one offering something completely different.
Gogogaga – The Asian Skybar
Perched on the 27th floor, this skybar serves hand-crafted cocktails, small plates, and set menus inspired by Asian flavours – think Korean BBQ, tartar, and Asian oysters, with options to add caviar and vodka if you’re going luxe.
JQ Bar – Speakeasy Vibes
Down on the 17th floor, the award-winning JQ Bar has 1920s speakeasy charm with a modern twist. The McLovin’ is already on my must-try list for next time.
Rooms, Suites & Brunch: Staying Overnight
If you decide to stay the night, you’ll find two room types:
- Jacy’z rooms: Chic, stylish, and affordable.
- JQ rooms: More exclusive, with glamorous design touches and higher-floor views.
There’s little price difference between the options, so it’s worth checking availability across both. Every room is beautifully styled with a hint of romantic flair.
Weekend Brunch
Staying over a weekend? Don’t miss their signature brunch with a raw bar, sandwich station, cooked-to-order options, and a stunning dessert bar to finish it off.
